They're coming to get you, Barbara.

Edited June 9th, 2020: Please note that this screening and panel have been postponed. The Living Dead panel had initially been conceived as a lighthearted screening and discussion about George Romero’s classic film. Due to recent events and out of respect for the Black community, we are canceling this event. We also realized upon closer reflection that we don’t have a representative panel to discuss the frank depiction of police brutality in Night of the Living Dead to facilitate an inclusive dialogue.

We hope to reschedule with a more considered conversation at a later date.

On June 13th, stay home and geek out with Nightfire and Tor Books! As part of TorCon, Tor’s virtual author and fan convention, and in partnership with our friends at Den of Geek, Nightfire is hosting an exclusive virtual showing of George A. Romero’s archetypal zombie classic, Night of the Living Dead.

When Romero died in 2017, he left behind a tremendous horror legacy – and also an unfinished draft of an epic novel, an expansion of his cinematic universe that told of the rise of the zombies and the fall of humanity in a way that wasn’t constrained by film budgets and effects work.

And then Suzanne Desrocher-Romero, his widow, chose a successor: Daniel Kraus, coauthor (with Guillermo del Toro) of the New York Times bestselling novel The Shape of Water, and author of The Death and Life of Zebulon Finch. Desrocher-Romero asked Kraus to complete her late husband’s manuscript.

The Living Dead won’t hit shelves until August 4th, but in the meantime, we’ve got all your undead needs covered. On Saturday, June 13th, at 8pm EST, we’ll be screening the movie in its entirety on Twitch, with an introduction by Daniel Kraus, and a lively panel discussion afterwards of all things Romero, zombie, and horror with special guests Grady Hendrix, Cassandra Khaw, and Paul Tremblay!
